Plus monitoring if your unit needs it.
Start a planA standby generator sits idle for months and is then asked to carry a house for days. Nearly every failure we get called to in storm week is something a service visit would have caught: a battery that still passes its weekly self-test but cannot crank under load, gas pressure that has drifted, a transfer arrangement that has never been exercised.
Two plans, both annual, both carried out by our own TECL-licensed technicians rather than a subcontractor.

Oil, filters, plugs and belts to the manufacturer’s schedule, with the parts your specific model calls for rather than a generic kit.
Tested under load, not just voltage-checked. A battery that passes the weekly self-test can still fail the moment the set is asked to carry the house.
Gas pressure, fuel, the controller and the transfer arrangement exercised end to end, so the handover is proven rather than assumed.
Manufacturer firmware kept current. Controllers get updates the same as anything else with a processor in it.
Plan customers go to the front of the queue. In the week after a named storm that is the whole difference.
An on-call technician out of Houston, not an out-of-state call centre taking a message.
Hot, humid, dusty and then genuinely cold for a few weeks. Heat and humidity work on the electrics, dust works on the filters and the enclosure, and a January freeze asks the set to start from cold after months of standing.
Once a year covers you for one of those. Twice a year is what we recommend across the service area, and it is what both plans are built around.
If you are without power and your generator is down, we aim to be there the same day where we can, and the next day guaranteed.
For plan customers, work is completed in a timely manner subject to weather and delays outside our control, but you are in the queue ahead of everyone without a plan.
Whoever put it in, whatever the badge on the front. If it has been a while, the first visit is a full inspection so you know what you actually have before you commit to a plan.
